Presidency College Chennai provides opportunities for students to enrol in undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs. To secure admission, candidates need to meet certain eligibility requirements. For undergraduate courses, admission is based on the marks obtained in the 12th class examination.
For postgraduate courses, the admission criteria include the candidate’s performance in their undergraduate program. Candidates aiming to join Presidency College should ensure they meet these criteria to be eligible for admission.
Admission Process Presidency College Chennai :
Students are admitted to all courses offered by the college following reservation and other regulations stipulated by the Government of Tamil Nadu periodically.
Presidency College Chennai Application Procedure :
Prospective candidates can obtain application forms for the courses from the Principal, Presidency College, Chennai 600 005 either in person or by post after paying the prescribed application fee.
Presidency College Chennai Application Process :
- Visit the admission office at Presidency College to acquire the application form.
- Complete the application form, ensuring all necessary information is provided.
- Attach the required documents along with the application form.
- Make the payment for the application fee and submit the form to the college office.

Candidates applying for UG Degree courses must submit the completed Application Form along with the required documents either in person or by post to:

Admission & Withdrawal :
Evidence of Qualification : Candidates must provide evidence of passing the qualifying examination for admission.
Transfer Certificate Requirement :
Candidates previously enrolled in any affiliated college need to submit a transfer certificate.
The transfer certificate must include:
- Full name of the student.
- Date of birth.
- Class previously attended.
- Subjects studied.
- Details of fees paid.
- Students admitted through false representations will be dismissed with fee forfeiture.
Admission Timing : Admission typically occurs only at the beginning of the first year of the degree course.
Fee Payment:
- No student can attend classes until all fees are paid.
- Late enrollment requires payment of all applicable fees for the term.
Certificate Issuance :
- Free issuance of Transfer and Conduct Certificates within one year of course completion.
- After one year, a penal fee of Rs. 3 is charged for each certificate.
Duplicate Certificate Fees :
- Rs. 1 fee for duplicate Transfer or Conduct Certificate within one year.
- After one year, a penal fee of Rs. 3 is charged in addition to the Rs. 1 for duplicate copies.
Academic Year Completion :
- Students leaving at the end of an academic year can still receive necessary certificates required by the .
Mandatory Conditions for Students :
- Students must attain a minimum of 75 percent attendance for each semester to be eligible for the semester end examination.
- They must obtain a progress certificate from the respective Head of the Department confirming satisfactory completion of the prescribed course of study.
- Satisfactory conduct throughout the semester is also required.
- The Principal has the authority to forgive a shortage in attendance of up to 15 percent for valid reasons, upon payment of the prescribed fee for condonation.

Important Points For Admission :
- It is the responsibility of the candidates to ensure that their application forms, along with all required enclosures, are submitted within the specified date and time. Applications received after the deadline, irrespective of the date of dispatch, will not be considered.
- The Admission Section will not be accountable for any delays or losses during the transit of application forms.
- Requests for extension of the submission deadline for required documents will not be entertained.
- Candidates applying under Special Categories (Children of Freedom Fighters, Visually Impaired, Orthopedically Physically Disabled, and Children of Ex-Servicemen – excluding Sports Quota) must submit the Special Category Form I in the prescribed format along with the main application form, enclosing the relevant certificates. Failure to provide the necessary certificates will result in the candidate not being considered under the specified category without prior notice.
- Candidates applying under the Sports Quota must submit both the main application form and the Special Category Form II for Sports along with the required certificates. Failure to include the necessary certificates will result in the candidate not being considered under the Sports Quota category without prior notice.
- Photocopies or fax copies of the application will not be accepted.
