The Directorate of (DoE) has recently issued a notification regarding the enrolment of students for the entry-level classes ( Pre-school / Nursery, Pre-primary / KG, and Primary / Class-1 ) from the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) for the academic session 2024-25 in private schools throughout the capital city, Delhi.

Starting from April 30, 2024, until May 15, 2024, parents looking for enrolling their children can start the application process via the official DoE website, edudel.nic.in. The deadline for online application submission is scheduled for May 15, 2024.

EWS Admission 2024-25 Events & Dates :

Registration Form Submission Guidelines :
  1. Complete all mandatory fields marked with red asterisks (*).
  2. Carefully review all entered data fore clicking the submission button.
  3. After clicking submit, a popup message will confirm that information cannot edited post-registration.
  4. Note that passwords are case sensitive.
  5. Expect an SMS confirmation on the registered mobile numr.
  6. Application Form Submission :
    • Use your login credentials to access the application form.
    • Ensure all fields are correctly filled.
  7. Choice of Schools :
    • Select schools based on distance range.
    • Arrange schools based on priority.
    • Confirm choices fore submission.
  8. Upon successful submission, a confirmation message will appear.
  9. Follow the stepwise instructions for each section of the application form.
  10. Review the filled application form. If satisfied with school priorities, tick the declaration statement and click the submit button.
  11. Upon final submission, a message will prompt regarding the inability to modify school choices. Choose to proceed or make changes.
  12. If adjustments are needed, click the designated button to revisit steps 2 to 5 and make necessary changes.
  13. Upon submission, the application will finalised, and no further modifications can made.
  14. Print a copy of the application form for future reference.
  15. You can reprint the form by logging in with your registration details.
  16. In case of forgotten login details, use the ” Forgot ID / Password ? ” link on the login page.
Steps for Admission :

For the entry-level classes (Pre-school / Nursery, Pre-primary / KG, and Primary / Class-1 )

  1. Visit the official website – edudel.nic.in
  2. Access the EWS admissions section for 2024-25.
  3. Click on the registration link for EWS admissions.
  4. Provide necessary details like mobile numr and email ID for registration.
  5. Log in with the credentials and fill out the application form accurately.
  6. Upload required documents in the specified format.
  7. Review the information and submit the form.
  8. Save or download the application for future reference.
  9. Await the lottery system results for admission.

Age Limit :

In terms of age eligibility, the admission criteria for the entry-level classes (Pre-school / Nursery, Pre-primary / KG, and Primary / Class-1 ) under the EWS / DG category will remain unchanged from the previous year.

Eligibility for admission :

Eligibility for admission under Economically Weaker Section Category in Private Unaided Recognized Schools in Delhi is open to :

  • Any individual residing in Delhi.
  • Those with valid residence proof of Delhi.
  • Holders of requisite Income Certificate issued by the Revenue Department of GNCT of Delhi.
  • BPL / AAY (Ration Card / Food Security Card) holders.
  • Income Limit : Parents’ income must remain low ₹1 lakh, despite the Delhi High Court revising the limit to ₹2.5 lakh.
Documents required for admission :
  1. One passport size photograph of the child.
  2. Proof of date of birth (choose one) :
  1. Original Date of Birth Certificate issued by MCD or any local body.
  2. School Leaving Certificate (SLC) from a recognized school.
  3. Anganwadi record.
  4. Hospital/Auxiliary Nurse and Midwife (ANM) register record.
  5. Undertaking by the parents regarding Date of Birth as per part B of the Application Form.
  1. Proof of residence in Delhi (choose one) :
  1. BPL/Ration card issued in the name of any parent with the child’s name.
  2. Domicile Certificate of the child/any parent.
  3. Voter ID card of any parent.
  4. Electricity/Water/MTNL bill in the name of any parent.
  5. Bank/Post Office passbook in the name of the child/any parent.
  6. Aadhaar card of the child/any parent.
  7. Passport in the name of the child/any parent.
  8. Driving license of any parent.
Admission priority is as follows :
  1. Children living within 1 KM of Sarvodaya Vidyalaya, or within 3 KM with no Sarvodaya Vidyalaya within 1 KM.
  2. Children residing within 3 KM of Sarvodaya Vidyalaya not covered in the first category.
  3. Children residing yond 3 KM, with the Head of School (HoS) taking an undertaking from parents regarding safe transportation of the child.

Admission under the EWS & DG Category :
  • Admission is done through computerised lottery system for 22% seats.
  • 3% of seats are reserved for Children with Disability (CWSN) within the 25% seat reservation.
  • The Directorate of conducts online allotment of seats through computerised draw of lots in Private Unaided Recognised schools.
  • Private Unaided Schools recognised up to Primary level ( Vth Class ) by MCD and NDMC are included in the admission system.
  • Only one registration and application per child is allowed, and Aadhaar No. of parents / legal guardians is mandatory.
  • A child can avail admission only once under EWS / DG / CVVSN category in Private Unaided Recognised Schools.
What is needed to claim for Economic Weaker Section (EWS) ?
  1. Income certificate (less than 1 lakh rupees annually) issued by the Revenue Department of GNCT of Delhi required.
  2. Date of issue of income certificate or application or receipt must fore the last date of applying for online admission.
  3. BPL / AAY (Ration Card / Food Security Card Holder) issued from GNCT of Delhi eligible under EWS category for admission in Private Unaided Recognised Schools.
Who comes under the DG category : Document Needed 
  1. Disadvantaged Group (DG) category includes Schedule Caste, Schedule Tri, Other Backward Class (Non-creamy layer), Orphans, Transgender, and children living with or affected by HIV.
  2. Schedule Caste, Schedule Tri, Other Backward Class (Non-creamy Layers) require a certificate issued by the Revenue department of GNCT of Delhi.
  3. Other Backward Class (Non-creamy Layers) applicants need a valid Non-creamy layer certificate along with the Other Backward Class Certificate.
  4. Orphans, Transgender, and children living with or affected by HIV automatically included in the DG category based on specific notifications.
  5. Income certificate not necessary for claiming nefits under the DG category.
  6. Applicants under the Children with Disability Category require a disability certificate issued by a Government Hospital as per the assessment guidelines under the RPWD Act, 2016.
  7. Disability certificates issued under the persons with disabilities (equal opportunities, protection of rights and full participation) Act, 1995, remain valid after the commencement of the RPWD Act, 2016.
  8. Income certificate not required for applicants under the Children with Disability Category.
