The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) released the CDS 2 Notification 2024 PDF on May 15, 2024, announcing 459 vacancies. The CDS Exam, a national-level examination conducted biannually, is an opportunity for candidates aspiring to join the Indian Air Force, Indian Military Academy, Indian Naval Academy, and Officer’s Training Academy.

To qualify for the Combined Defence Service Examination (II) 2024, candidates must undergo a written test, followed by an interview round and a medical examination. Conditions of Eligibility :
Nationality :

Must unmarried and meet one of the following criteria :

  • Citizen of India
  • Subject of Nepal
  • Person of Indian origin who migrated from specified countries with the intention of permanently settling in India.
Age Limits, Sex, and Marital Status :

For Indian Military Academy (IMA) and Indian Naval Academy : Unmarried male candidates born between July 2, 2001, and July 1, 2006, are eligible.

For Air Force Academy :

  • Age: 20 to 24 years as of July 1, 2025, i.e., born between July 2, 2001, and July 1, 2005.
  • Upper age limit for candidates with a valid Commercial Pilot Licence issued by DGCA (India) is relaxable up to 26 years, i.e., born between July 2, 1999, and July 1, 2005.

al Qualifications :

For I.M.A. and Officers’ Training Academy, Chennai : Degree from a recognized or equivalent.

Indian Naval Academy : Degree in Engineering from a recognized /Institution.

For Air Force Academy :

Degree from a recognized (with Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level) or Bachelor of Engineering.

Graduates applying for Army /Navy /Air Force must provide proof of Graduation/provisional certificates at the commencement of the SSB Interview.

How to Apply for CDS 2 ?
  • Candidates must apply online via upsconline.nic.in.
  • Applicants must first register at the One Time Registration (OTR) platform on the Commission’s website before filling out the online application for the examination. OTR registration is a one-time process.
  • If already registered, candidates can proceed directly to filling out the online application.
  • Modification in OTR Profile:
    • Changes to the OTR profile are allowed only once in a lifetime after registration.
    • Modification option will available until 7 days after the closure of the application window for the candidate’s first final application for any Commission examination.
      • For this examination, the last date for modifying the OTR profile is 11th June 2024.
  • Modification in Application Form (Other than OTR Profile):
    • Candidates can make corrections to any field in the application form for this examination starting from the day after the application window closure.
    • The correction window will remain open for 7 days from its opening, i.e., from 5th June 2024 to 11th June 2024.
    • If a candidate needs to modify their OTR profile during this period, they should log in to the OTR platform and make the necessary changes.
      • No modifications to the OTR profile can made through the application form modification window.
  • Withdrawal of Applications:
    • Candidates will not allowed to withdraw their applications after submission.

e-Admit Cards for CDS 2 :

The deadline for Online Applications is until 6:00 PM on June 4th, 2024. Eligible candidates will receive their e-Admit Cards on the last working day of the preceding week before the examination date. These cards will accessible for download on the UPSC website (upsc.gov.in), and no physical copies will mailed. Applicants must provide a valid and active email address during the online application process, as the Commission may communicate with them electronically.

Steps to check the CDS Result 2024 :
  • Visit the official website of UPSC at upsc.gov.in.
  • Navigate to the homepage and click on the “Written Result” tab.
  • A new page will open, displaying the result PDF.
  • Use “CTRL+F” to search for your roll number in the PDF.
  • If your roll number is found in the PDF, you will receive details for the interview round shortly.
