How to Enter the Ballot ?
  • Ballot Opening Periods : Ballots are usually open in January and July each year.
  • How to Enter : Submit your entry by sending an email. Only one entry per person is allowed. Duplicate entries will disregarded.
  • Eligibility Check : Ensure you meet all eligibility requirements for the Youth Mobility Scheme visa before entering the ballot.
  • Ballot Duration :
    • Ballots are open for 48 hours.
    • All emails received within this period will included in the ballot.
    • You will receive an automated reply confirming your entry.
  • Visa Allocation for 2024 :
    • Hong Kong Nationals : 1,000 places available.
    • Taiwan Nationals : 1,000 places available.
    • Most places are allocated in the January ballot.
    • Remaining places will allocated in the July ballot.
Eligibility for Youth Mobility Scheme Visa Application :
  • Hong Kong: Requires entry into the ballot if you hold an SAR passport.
  • Taiwan: Requires entry into the ballot.
  • Japanese and South Korean Nationals: Do not need to enter the ballot; can apply directly on our website.
  • British Overseas Citizens, British Overseas Territories Citizens, or British Nationals (Overseas): Do not need to enter the ballot.

If You Are Successful in the Ballot :
  • Notification: You will receive an email by Wednesday 31 July 2024 if successful in the second ballot.
  • Next Steps:
    • Submit your application, pay the visa fee, and provide biometric information (fingerprints and a photograph) at a Visa Application Centre (VAC) within 90 days.
    • Expect a decision on your visa within 3 weeks of your VAC appointment. Refer to guidance on decision waiting times for current processing durations.
  • Visa Validity: If approved, you will have 90 days to enter the UK, and your visa will valid for 2 years.
    • If you cannot travel within 90 days, apply for an extension (no need to reapply for the visa). The visa expiry date remains unchanged, even if delayed by coronavirus.
    • Check with your VAC for faster processing options based on your country.
If You Are Unsuccessful in the Ballot :
  • Notification: You will receive an email within 2 weeks of the ballot closing.
  • Check: Look in your junk or spam folder if you do not receive a response.
  • Appeal: The ballot results are final and cannot appealed. However, you may enter future ballots if you meet the eligibility criteria.
Successful Entries :
  • Visa Invitation : If you are selected in the ballot, you will receive an invitation to apply for the visa.
  • Application Timeline : You have 90 days from the date of the email to complete your online application. This includes paying the visa application fee, the immigration health surcharge, and providing your biometrics.
  • Choosing Not to Apply : If you are successful but decide not to apply for the visa, you do not need to notify us.
Unsuccessful Entries :
