Shrikhand Mahadev, revered as Lord Shiva’s abode in Hindu mythology, is among India’s toughest pilgrimages. Located in Himachal Pradesh’s Kullu district, this sacred trek spans 35 kilometers and climbs to 17,000 feet amidst the majestic Himalayan scenery. Organised annually by the Shrikhand Mahadev Yatra Trust Nirmand and Kullu district administration for 10-12 days in July, the pilgrimage requires physical stamina and spiritual dedication.

Participants must prepare for unpredictable weather, including rain and snow, despite the summer season. While basic amenities are available en route, pilgrims are advised to carry essentials like water, warm clothing, rain gear, flashlights, and dry fruits. Due to its difficulty, those not in optimal health are advised against attempting the trek, and registration with the district administration is mandatory before starting the journey.
