Procedure for Admission to PM SHRI Schools :
  • Application Process : Schools must self-apply through the online portal, which opens quarterly for the first two years.
  • Eligibility Criteria : Elementary (Class 1-5/1-8) and Secondary/Senior Secondary Schools (Class 1-10/1-12/6-10/6-12) managed by Centre/State/UT Governments or local authorities with UDISE+ codes.
  • Selection Stages :
    • Stage 1 : States/UTs sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to implement NEP and commit to supporting selected schools.
    • Stage 2 : Schools are identified based on UDISE+ data, meeting minimum benchmarks for eligibility.
    • Stage 3 : Schools from the eligible pool compete to meet specific criteria. Verification is done through physical inspections by States/KVS/JNV.
  • Verification and Recommendation : Claims by schools are verified by States/UTs/KVS/JNV and a list is recommended to the Ministry.
  • Selection Limit : Up to two schools per block/ULB (one Elementary and one Secondary/Senior Secondary), with an overall limit across India.
