The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and the Indian Banks Association (IBA) founded the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) in 2008. It is a key player in the advancement of electronic payments in the nation. Key systems including the National Financial Switch (NFS) and Immediate financial Service (IMPS), which are essential to India’s financial infrastructure, are managed by NPCI, which also acts as a safe platform for a variety of digital transactions. Aadhaar Seeding Process :

Aadhaar seeding is essential for obtaining Direct Benefit Transfers (DBT) from various government initiatives. The steps to complete the Aadhaar seeding process are as follows :

  • Visit your bank branch where your account is held.
  • Submit a properly completed consent form, known as Annexure I.

Verification and Acknowledgement :

  • Bank personnel will verify the submitted details, documents, and the validity of your signature.
  • Upon successful verification, the bank will accept the Aadhaar seeding consent form and issue an acknowledgment.

Linking Aadhaar Number : The bank will connect your Aadhaar number to your account and ensure it is updated in the NPCI mapper.

Completion : Following the linking procedure, your Aadhaar number will visible in the NPCI mapper.

NPCI has launched the Bharat Aadhaar Seeding Enabler (BASE) platform to support Direct Benefit Transfers (DBT) by enabling citizens to complete various tasks online. The following activities can carried out on the BASE platform:

How to Use the BASE Facility ?
  1. Visit the Website : Go to npci.org.in
  2. Access the Consumer Tab : Click on the ‘Consumer’ tab located on the homepage.
  3. Select Bharat Aadhaar Seeding Enabler (BASE) : Click on the option for ‘Bharat Aadhaar Seeding Enabler (BASE).’
  4. Check or Retrieve Aadhaar Information : Use the dropdown menu to check your Aadhaar mapping status or to view your Aadhaar mapping history.
For Offline Aadhaar Linking Status Check :

If you lack internet access, you can verify your Aadhaar linking status through your bank by following these steps:

  • Dial USSD Code: Using a mobile number registered with UIDAI, dial 9999*1#.
  • Enter Aadhaar Number: Input your 12-digit Aadhaar number and confirm the linking status when prompted.

Important Notes : Linking Aadhaar to your bank account is not mandatory if you do not seek government benefits or services.
